Shaftesbury Book Festival 2024

The very popular Shaftesbury Book festival returns to town in March. The event runs from the 15th to 17th March and is called Reading the Land. You can find out more about the event on their website here…

The theme ‘Reading the Land’ is an invitation to share in the passion, experience and insight of our authors as we explore the best of nature writing. We bring togethers authors for whom our natural world has significance, whether through observation, participation or experience. Join us as we explore themes from farming to wildflowers, beats to birds, and the importance of understanding our natural ecosystems, like waterways and UK rainforests.

Starting on Friday night and running through the weekend, you’ll have the opportunity to hear from an amazing lineup, including winners of the prestigious 2023 James Cropper Wainwright Prize for Nature Writing and Conservation Writing, plus authors who made the long- and shortlists for the events in each category. Author talks take place at the Grosvenor Arms, and children’s events at Shaftesbury Library and Shaftesbury Arts Centre.
